The newly appointed board Chairman, National Inland Waterways Authority ( NIWA) Hon. Musa Sarkin-Adar has charged the management team of the Authority to phase out wooden boats in order to minimize boats accidents on the nation’s waterways.
Sarkin – Adar gave the charge when he paid a familiarization visit to the Managing Director of NIWA, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji at the Authority’s Abuja Liaison office.
While expressing appreciation to the MD for the warm reception, the Chairman urged the Authority to do more in connecting other states in the water transportation.
He emphasized the need for the involvement of the private sector in the development of water transportation noting that government cannot do it alone.
He further urged Oyebamiji and his team to do their best in order to leave a lasting legacy so that history will remember them for good.
In his remarks, Oyebamiji thanked the board Chair for the visit and commended the efforts of his management team in the development of the Inland waterways transportation sub-sector.
According to him, he is blessed with an experienced and dedicated team which he cannot take the glory alone.
The visit was attended by all the Management staff of the Authority.
