Controller, Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Oluwadamilare Oshoba had urged newly promoted officers of the command to uphold the highest standards of the Service’s ethical conduct and demonstrate greater commitment to their responsibilities.
The recent promotion saw a total of 200 officers of the command rise in ranks including eight Deputy Comptrollers elevated to Comptroller, 30 Assistant Comptrollers to Deputy Comptroller, and 35 Superintendents to Chief Superintendent of Customs.
Speaking at the ceremony, which held at the command on Thursday, Comptroller Oshoba emphasized that the promotions were a testament to the officers’ hard work and dedication.

He told the newly decorated officers that their elevation was a call to improve their performance and justify the management’s confidence in them.
He said, Your promotion is a call to improve your performance and justiify the management confidence in you. So I challenge you to uphold integrity, exhibit professionalism in your conduct, and perform your duties with due diligence.
He reminded them that they would be crucial in helping the command surpass its revenue generation targets, enhance trade facilitation, and combat smuggling.
His words, “As officers and Men, you will be required to play significant roles in ensuring that the Apapa Command improves on its unprecedented revenue generation and enhancing trade facilitation and combating smuggling in collaboration with sister agencies to promote economic growth, national security, and compliabce to trade regulations.
“I expect you to make a positive impact in your new roles and contribute to the growth and development of the Nigeria Customs Service. ”
Oshoba thanked the Comptroller General of Customs for making the promotion process merit-driven just as he urged officers who were not promoted to keep pushing forward, as their dedication had not gone unnoticed.
Chief Superintendent of Customs M.D. Abdulahi, who spoke on behalf of the newly promoted officers, expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General for finding them worthy of the elevation.
“We are highly honoured to be decorated with various enviable ranks,” he said.
Abdulahi affirmed the officers’ commitment to the service’s core values, promising unflinching loyalty to the service.
He added that the newly promoted officers is committed to not only meeting but also exceeding the command’s revenue targets.
He said, “I will like to reiterate our total resolve to uphold the core values of the Service by ensuring strict compliance to the seven golden rule in discharging our duties as well as unflinching loyalty to the service.
“We are also committed as a team in ensuring not only meeting the commands target but surpassing it as we all are aware of your steadfastness and remarkable achievement in the Service.”
The event was attended by representatives from sister agencies, including the Army, Police, NDLEA, and DSS, as well as family members and friends of the promoted officers.
