In a statement issued by its Public Relations Unit on Tuesday, LASWA, said the temporary closure is to facilitate the successful hosting of the E1 Championship, the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing tournament with the Lagos series scheduled to take place along the five cowries creek during this period.
According to the statement, “Specifically on Thursday October 2, 2025, there will be partial closure from Falomo bridge to Oriental hotel between 10am and 6pm, while on Friday October 3, 2025, there will be total closure from Oriental Hotel to Mekwen bridge between 10am and 6pm, while on Saturday October 4 and on Sunday October 5, there will be total closure from Falomo bridge to Oriental Hotel between 8am and 6pm daily.
“The waterways restriction is a vital safety and security measure to ensure seamless event operations, safeguard lives, and project Lagos as a world-class destination for international sporting events.”
LASWA stated that normal operations at the affected ferry routes will resume on Monday, 6th October 2025.
“We urge all waterway users to kindly cooperate by making use of alternative ferry routes and make travel arrangements ahead of time. The Lagos State Government appreciates your patience and understanding as we work together to deliver this historic world championship, ” the statement said.
