CRFFN 4th Governing Council member, Yau elected President of Kano Airport Airfreight stakeholders forum

The Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Airfreight Stakeholders Forum (ASF) has elected Muftahu Yau as its substantive President for a period of five year term.

The body was established by the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) to protect the interest of the Nigerian shippers.

The election took place last Wednesday, November 12th, during an Enlarge Assembly Meeting of its members at the NCS North West Zone (NWZ) zonal coordinating Office under the supervision of the NWZ coordinating office Director, Alh. Ahmed U. Yazah and other staff of the NSC.

The ASF serves as a pressure group in the sector by bringing constructive inputs to government policies and drawing the attention of stakeholders to prospects and challenges of the industry, removing impediments to business and act as a conflict resolution platform for stakeholders.

The NSC, in its role liases and collaborates with both government and private agencies by providing both information and technical assistance to them; foster collaboration and cooperation for the development and growth of the Airfreight sector.

Ya’u, a registered freight forwarder and Managing Director of Khair Worldwide Ent. LTD., a customs licenced freight forwarding company had previously served a one year term as the forum’s Interim President.

He was also a member of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) 4th Governing Council, inaugurated by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi in 2022, where he represented Nigerian airports and land borders and chairs the Media and Publicity Committee of the council.

Present at the meeting were representatives from government regulatory agencies, shippers and freight forwarding associations including Nigeria Customs Service, CRFFN, NCAA, NAFDAC, SON, NDLEA, NAQS, NEPC, NAHCO, SAHCO, KACCIMA, ANCLA, NAGAFF, AFFPON, DHL, K.A AKANDE INV. LTD, INEXIA, SABREEN CARGO, CHOSEN RES. LTD among others.

While the NSC staff will handle the secretariat of the forum, all other Interim EXCO of the forum were duly elected as substantive EXCO.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected president thanked the NSC and its management staff, particularly the present Director (NWZ), Alh. Ahmed U Yazah and the two former Directors, A. S Bashir and Hajiya Karimatu Othman for their commitment and sacrifices for the well-being of the forum.

He also thanked AD Mohammed Audu, AD Hajiya Adama Kwajaffa, POS Hajiya Raliya Umar Baba all from NSC for their support to the forum.

He also thanked all government and private agencies representatives at the meeting, for their immeasurable contributions to the progress of the forum since its inception and for placing their trust in the returned exco.

Yau promised to continue to work closely with all stakeholders, defending their interests and ensure taking into cognizance their respective inputs before reaching every decision on behalf of the forum.

He also appealed to the forum members to continue offering their full support to the exco and not hesitate to draw their attention on matters deemed useful in promoting well-being of the forum.

Responding, the Director NSC (NWZ) thanked the members of the forum for attending the meeting and also for electing new EXCO to pilot the affairs of the forum.

He charged the new EXCO to work hard so as to deliver on their responsibilities.
