Yuletide: ANLCA VP, Oduntan felicitates Christians, applauds agents’ resilience in 2025

ANLCA ready for 4% FOB levy, lack of engagement fuelled initial rejection- Oduntan

The National Vice President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Segun Oduntan, has felicitated with Christians within the nation’s maritime sector, especially customs brokers, freight forwarders, and the entire ANLCA members at they celebrate Christmas.

In a goodwill message issued Thursday,, Oduntan urged Christians to emulate the life of Christ, emphasizing that the virtues of the season—humility, obedience, and love are essential for professional excellence.

“The humble yet profound birth of Christ teach us salient virtues including obedience to God, humility, and unwavering commitment to the good of all.

“As followers of Christ and professionals in a critical sector, we must embody these values to build a more harmonious and prosperous industry.”

Reflecting on the outgoing year, Oduntan described 2025 as a pivotal period of professional steadfastness and industry growth.

He noted that while the maritime sector remains the lifeblood of the Nigerian economy, its success this year has been a testament to the dedication of licensed agents who have remained resolute despite a complex operating environment.

He reaffirmed ANLCA’s commitment to
Improving the collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and other regulatory agencies to eliminate cargo clearance delays and multiple charges within the maritime corridor.

Oduntan commended customs brokers and freight forwarders for their roles in driving government revenue and sustaining national employment, describing them as the unsung heroes of Nigeria’s commerce cycle.

“I still want to use this opportunity to call on our members to remain resilient and professional, even as we navigate the various bottlenecks currently facing cargo clearance at the nation’s ports. While we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us remember that our role as licensed agents is a pillar of the Nigerian economy.

“I urge the government and relevant authorities to prioritize the harmonization of port policies to alleviate the operational burdens on our businesses. As we enter the New Year, let us carry the spirit of Christ’s humility and dedication into every terminal, ensuring that we continue to serve our nation with integrity, compliance and unity, ” he said.
