MWUN PG, Bunu greets Christians at Christmas, tasks FG on insecurity

The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has extended Christmas felicitation to Christians in Nigeria and across the world, calling for spiritual steadfastness and national healing as the world celebrates Christmas.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Union’s Head of Media, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, the maritime labor leader urged the faithful to look beyond the festivities and reflect on the profound lessons of the life of Jesus Christ.
Comrade Bunu admonished Christians to remain committed to their faith and the things of the Kingdom, despite the “serious trials and persecutions” many are currently facing.
He reminded believers that the path of the righteous often mirrors that of Christ, who was rejected and persecuted despite his life of service, healing, and charity.
“Christianity is behaving ‘Christ-like,'” the labor activist stated. “Without imbibing this character in our daily lives—being tolerant, forgiving, and kind to one another irrespective of how many times we are offended—we fall out of the core principles of our faith.”
Emphasizing that Jesus Christ is the sole reason for the season, the President-General called on all Nigerians to prioritize charity.
He urged citizens to bless the needy and the vulnerable through alms-giving within their various communities, regardless of religion, tribe, or descent.
The MWUN leader expressed deep concern over the prevailing insecurity in the country, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
He highlighted the plight of the displaced, the homeless, and the thousands of children out of school due to ongoing violence.
“God is not unaware of what Christians and Muslims are passing through in that part of Nigeria right now. To live in a sane society, we must give love a chance. It is only through love that both Christians and Muslims can live peacefully in Nigeria and across the entire world.”
Comrade Bunu further called on the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to utilize all resources at its disposal to bring the nation’s insecurity to an end.
He expressed optimism that with the right political will and collective prayer, Nigeria would soon reclaim its status as the Giant of Africa.
“As we celebrate Christmas, I wish every Nigerian home and abroad a prosperous New Year in advance. It is my prayer that in no distant time, Nigeria will be peaceful again,” he concluded.
