The School of Eloquence, Nigeria has officially received its Guinness World Records certificate, confirming its successful achievement of the world’s longest speech marathon by a team after completing a 480-hour speaking challenge in Lagos.
The feat, tagged “20 Days of Eloquence – Nigeria Speaks to the World,” was achieved from April 1 to 21, 2026, and has now been formally recognized by Guinness World Records.
Announcing the development, the Dean of the School of Eloquence, Ubong Essien, CSP, expressed gratitude to God and everyone who supported the initiative, describing the recognition as a milestone for both the institution and Nigeria.
According to him, the official Guinness World Records certificate was unveiled during a special reception held at the School of Eloquence, where participants and contributors whose efforts made the historic achievement possible were honoured.
Essien said the accomplishment was not only a victory for the School of Eloquence but also for everyone who encouraged the team, prayed for the project, shared its story and believed in the vision.
He thanked supporters for standing by the institution throughout the record attempt, noting that their encouragement played a vital role in its success.
The Dean reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to its mission of developing effective communicators, saying the recognition marks another step in its vision of “Teaching the World to Speak.”
The 480-hour speech marathon has now been officially entered into the Guinness World Records as the longest speech marathon by a team, placing Nigeria on the global map for the unprecedented achievement.
