The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on his election as the Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO).
This historic election marks the first time a Nigerian will lead the prestigious global body.
In a press release issued by Tochukwu Ezisi, National President of NAGAFF, lauded Adeniyi’s emergence as “not only strategic but a significant victory for Nigeria and Africa at large.”
Ezisi emphasized that this unprecedented milestone is a direct result of CGC Adeniyi’s “impeccable track record of service, foresight and the remarkable transformation” he has brought to the Nigeria Customs Service.
NAGAFF highlighted Adeniyi’s tenure as CGC, noting his clear commitment to transparency, innovation, and valued cooperation—qualities that align perfectly with the WCO’s mission.
“The global stage is set and we are confident that you will bring the same excellence and purposeful leadership to the world arena,” Ezisi stated in the congratulatory message.
Affirming NAGAFF’s full and unwavering support, Ezisi pledged the association’s continued collaboration and advocacy as strategic partners. “We stand firmly beside you in your quest to reshape and reenergize customs operations globally,” he added.
The NAGAFF President expressed hope that CGC Adeniyi’s tenure at the WCO will usher in groundbreaking reforms, deepen global customs integration, and solidify Nigeria’s position in international trade diplomacy.
