One of the candidates contesting membership ticket of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Alh. Mohammed Sanni Utai has said that his 23 years experience and commitment to the association’s growth in the Northern zone makes him an ideal candidate for the upcoming BoT election.
Utai said his decision to contest is driven by his desire to increase the Northern zone’s active involvement in the national body.
He noted that despite the rapid growth of the freight forwarding profession in the North, the region remains underrepresented in ANLCA’s national body with the current coordinator not operating from the North.
He said, “One core reason behind my interest to contest is to make the zone more actively involve in national body. The profession is growing in the north rapidly, we have dry port in Kano with over six different bonded terminals, two international airports, with two international border posts.
“But ANLCA today is not really represented in the North. Even the person representing as coordinator for the North is not actually operating from the North. That is why i’m interested to come on board the Board of ANLCA so that the voice of the operators in the North can be heard in the industry because it is as if the job of clearing and forwarding is only limited to Lagos and Port Harcourt.
” I have experience sanning over a period of 25 years. I have been a member of ANLCA for over 23 years and playing the role of an elder in the local chapter for the 18years.
” I was the one that revived the kano from it’s comatoes position to its present position with active elected members.
“I’m also involved in manufacturing, logistics and commodity trading.”
