ANLCA Eastern Zone members throw weight behind 9- like minds for BoT office

In a display of solidarity and determination, members of the Eastern Zone of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) have unanimously endorsed the “Nine-Like-Minds” candidates for the Board of Trustees (BoT) office.

The “Nine-Like-Minds” candidates include: Chief Kingsley Offor (Area 3, Port Harcourt chapter), Sir Ernest Elochukwu Anthony (Area 1, Port Harcourt), Mustapha Taiwo (Area 1, Port Harcourt), Azeez Adedayo David (Apapa) and Alh. Awonuga Olatunde (Apapa).

Others are Okafor Dennis Osadebe (Apapa), Momoh Sunday (Apapa), Mumuney Ademola (KCI Chapter) and Utai Mohammed Sani (Kano Chapter).

The position of members of the Eastern Zone of ANLCA was announced in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Onne Seaport, Obinna Nwachukwu.

He disclosed that members of the Zone formally announced their decision to support the Nine- Like- Minds at the Voyage Hotel in Port Harcourt at the weekend.

Nwachukwu expressed confidence in the united front presented by the Zone, stating that victory is sure in sight for the B-9 candidates.

“In what clearly depicts the resoluteness and straightforwardness that mark and define the Eastern Zone of the ANLCA, yesterday stakeholders coverged at the Voyage Hotel, Port Harcourt, wherein they adopted the candidatures of the nine-like-minds for the BOT Office.

“The event in its entirety was a a statement of courage, solidarity, and show of force. And in all good hopes, anchored on the confidence of the mutual loyalty between the candidates and the various chapters and the zone, this alliance will culminate in a resounding victory, ” the statement said.

Notable attendees at the meeting included Onne Chapter Chairman Chief Mike Ebeatu, Secretary Mr. Chinedu Ikenga, and other prominent stakeholders.

The endorsement by the Eastern Zone is seen as a significant development in the lead up to the BoT election as the Zone’s support is expected to boost the chances of the Nine Like minds candidates.

The nine candidates who had pledged to work together in collaboration with National Executive Committee ( NECOM) to stabilize the association.have outlined a four-point agenda to achieve their goals.

If elected, they promised to:
-Pursue the establishment of a Charter for the Institute of Customs Brokers through the National Assembly.

-Advocate for a downward review of the cost of practitioners’ annual license renewal.

-Address anomalies in the customs cargo clearance processes and Demand a 1% commission on total revenue generated by customs brokers/declarants.

Their collaborative approach and synergy with NECOM is expected to bring stability and growth to the association.
