Controller, Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Owerri of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Bashir Balogun has reminded 67 newly promoted officers of the unit that their promotion comes with higher performance, charging them to uphold the Service’ core values of integrity, transparency and professionalism.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony held on Thursday, Comptroller Balogun described their promotion as a reward for dedication, discipline and excellence in service to the nation.
While congratulating the officers, he urged them to see their elevation as both a privilege and a challenge.

Speaking, he said, “Today,, we celebrate not just promotions but dedication, discipline and excellence in service to the Nigeria Customs Service and our great nation.
“Promotion in the Service is not a routine exercise; it is a reward for hard work, loyalty, and commitment to duty. It also comes with greater responsibilities and expectations. For those being decorated today, this recognition is a call to higher performance, integrity and leadership.
“The Federal Operations Unit is a critical arm of the Service and the nation expect us to continue to strengthen anti smuggling operations, revenue recovery, and trade facilitation,” Balogun said.
He expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Service’s management team for ensuring that hard work and merit was rewarded, while also expressing appreciation to the families and colleagues who supported the newly promoted officers.
“To those who didn’t get promoted this time, I encourage you to be strong and prepare harder next time,” he added.

The 67 promoted officers comprise three promoted from Assistant Comptroller (AC) to Deputy Comptroller (DC), one from Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) to AC, four from Superintendent of Customs (SC) to CSC, seven from Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) to SC, 15 from Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASC I) to DSC, 17 from ASC II to ASC I, 18 from Inspector of Customs (IC) to ASC II, and two from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to IC.
