CNS male volleyball team defeat Customs to win 2025 super cup tournament

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Male Volleyball Spikers Team has been crowned champions of the 2025 National Volleyball Super Cup Tournament after a victory over the Nigeria Customs Service.

The final was held on Saturday at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium, Abuja.

The Super Cup Volleyball Tournament is organised to identify the best club in the country at the end of the regular volleyball league season. It also aims to promote excellence, competitiveness, and development of Nigerian volleyball while serving as a platform to assess players for future national team selection.

The CNS Volleyball Spikers continue their outstanding performance, following their consecutive wins in the 2024 and 2025 National Volleyball Premier League seasons, with several team members earning individual awards.

Their triumph in the just-concluded 2025 Premier League season qualified them as one of the 6 teams that competed for the Super Cup from 31 January to 8 February 2026 at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium.

The CNS Female Spikers Volleyball Team also secured a bronze medal, finishing third behind the Chief of Army Staff Volleyball female team.

The Chief of the Naval Staff congratulated the team on an outstanding performance marked by the successful defence of its league title for the second consecutive year and winning the Super Cup in quick succession.

He noted that this remarkable achievement underscores the team’s resilience and winning mentality, describing the accomplishment as a reflection of sustained excellence and a culture built on discipline, sound preparation, and team spirit.

The CNS also remarked that the team has been consistent, representing the Nigerian Navy with distinction and setting a benchmark for professionalism, competitiveness, and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

While celebrating the back-to-back league titles and Super Cup victory, he urged the team not to rest on its laurels but to recognise that success brings heightened expectations and responsibility.

He reaffirmed his commitment to continued support for the team, especially in player development and coaching excellence.

The CNS Volleyball Spikers’ victory highlights the importance that the CNS places on sports, which serves as a means of keeping Nigerian Navy personnel physically fit and highly motivated towards safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests, in line with the CNS mission.
