Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has constituted an electoral committee to conduct election into the Governing Board of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) following the expiration of the two years tenure of the Governing Board members.
Consequently, the committee has announced October 9th, 2021 as the date for the CRFFN Governing board election.
According to a Public Notice dated 2nd September 2021 and signed by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, A.D Suleiman, the guidelines for the conduct of the election would be given at the point of collecting nomination forms.
The notice reads: “ Sequel to the expiration of the two years tenure of the Governing Board of Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), the Honourable Minister of Transportation in the exercise of the power conferred on him by Section 2 (1) (f) of CRFFN Act 2007, has constituted an Electoral Committee to conduct election into the Governing Board of the Council. The Act provides that an elected or appointed member of the Governing Council shall hold office for a period of two (2) years beginning from the date of election or appointment as applicable.
2. You may wish to note that Section 2(1) (g) of the enabling Act states that “five persons to be elected from amongst registered freight forwarders operating in each of the following zones:
*Western Ports – 5 persons
*Eastern Ports-5 persons
*Cargo Airports/Land Borders – 5 persons
3. Consequently, all eligible registered Freight Forwarders are hereby informed that the Electoral Committee will commence the election process as contained in the Time Table as follows:
i NOMINATION FORM: 6th 17th September, 2021
Collection and submission of completed Nomination Forms shall be within ten (10) days from 10am to 4pm daily in the following locations:
*Lagos – Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding of Nigeria (CRFFN) No. 1, Joseph Harden Street, Marina, Lagos. (Contact: Mrs. Ogwuche-Obe Ene Helen staff of the Ministry, Phone – 08033071392).

* Port-Harcourt – Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding of Nigeria (CRFFN) Office, Behind Wesham Filling Station, Camp Round About, Onne/Eleme Road, Onne Port Harcourt, Rivers State (contact: Mrs. Nwosu J. Uchechi – staff of the Ministry, Phone – 08060621320).
ii SCREENING: 21st-22nd September,2021 in Lagos and 24th September, 2021 in Abuja Screening: from 10am to 4pm daily.
*Screening of candidates from Western and Eastern Ports at Rock View Hotel Apapa, Lagos: 21st-22nd September, 2021 from 10am-4pm daily.
*Screening of candidates from Cargo Airports/Land Borders at Federal Ministry of Transportation’s Conference Room, 8th Floor, Abuja on Friday 24th September, 2021 from 10am-4pm.
iii. ACCREDITATION OF CANDIDATES-7th-8th October, 2021 in Abuja
iv. DISPLAY OF CONTESTANTS’ LIST-8th October, 2021
Contestants list will be displayed at the venue of the venue of the election, CRFFN office Abuja and FMOT office Abuja respectively.
v. ELECTION – Saturday, 9th October, 2021.
The election shall start at 10am prompt at National Women Centre, opposite CBN Headquarters, Abuja.
vi RECEIPT OF COMPLAINTS AND DECISION ON SAME
Deadline on receipt of complaints: Monday, 11th October, 2021.
Decision on all complaints: Tuesday, 12th October, 2021.
vii. PAYMENT AND COLLECTION OF NOMINATION FORM
All interested Freight Forwarders registered with CRFFN are to pay the sum of non -refundable fee of N500,000 for the Nomination form into CRFFN number below and nomination forms will be issued on presentation of the receipt of payment at designated points of the two operational Zones of the Council and the Federal Ministry of transportation as in paragraph 3 (1) above.
