The Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone A has arraigned two suspects, Walu Oladeji and Lateef Odugbemi, for felony.
The suspects were arraigned at the Federal High Court sitting at Ibadan on Thursday on a four-count charge; Obstruction to duty, shooting, and Assault on an Officer on duty, amounting to Felony punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C38 laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
Counsel to the Federal Operations unit zone ‘A’ Barr. Smart Akande stated that the suspects, Walu Oladeji and Lateef Odugbemi, both Males with others now at large, committed the offenses on the 22nd May 2023 around Tapa, lbarapa North Local government.
He disclosed that “this malicious attack on Nigeria Customs officers on legitimate duties resulted in serious injuries.
He further stated that both suspects pleaded not guilty but will be remanded in a nearby correctional Center pending the administration of their bail application.
The case was adjourned to the 24/25 of January 2024.
