Dala dry port: Shippers’ Council applauds pace of work

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Emmanuel Jime, has expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded on the construction of the Dala Inland Dry Port, Zawaciki, Kano.

Jime stated this during an inspection visit to the port on Saturday, in Kano.

“I am impressed with the pace and progress of construction work on this project which is 80 per cent completed.

“We have a coordinating team set up by Shippers Council that reports progress on weekly basis.

“As at the last report, the level of completion of the dry port is 80 percent. The final assessment of the project would be done at the end of the month when we will come with the minister as a team,” he explained.

Chairman, Dala IDP, Abubakar Bawuro said everything had been put in place to ensure the speedy completion, viability and use of the dry port.

He noted that the project would lead to economic development not only of Kano, but its neighbouring states as well.

Also speaking, Managing Director of the Dala Inland Dry Port, Ahmed Rabiu assured that the port would be delivered in a few weeks.

”It is feasible to commence operation at the Dala Inland Dry Port within the next couple of weeks.

“We assure you that on March 31, this place would be ready and will just wait for the Minister to do the last bit of declaring it as a port of origin and destination, “Rabiu said.
