The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, has felicitated with Muslims faithfuls in the country and across the world as they celebrate Eid- el fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan fasting and prayers.

Adeyanju, in a statement issued by MWUN Head of Media, John Ikemefuna, on  Wednesday called on all Muslims across the world to use the season of Eid Mubarak to reflect on the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad to rejuvenate their lives in accordance with the tenets of Islam.

Adeyanju, who described Islam as a religion of peace, stated that it is imperative for every Muslim to reflect on the character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad who taught the principles of peace, love, and kindness towards one another when He was on earth.

“It is by giving alms to the poor and needy in our society and being our brothers keeper everywhere in Nigeria and anywhere across the world that we have come to proper reconciliation with the Almighty Allah. And that is the significance of Eid Mubarak,” he said.

Adeyanju who doubles as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) also admonished Muslims to be steadfast in their prayers and supplications daily to fulfill the tenets of Islam as recorded in the Holy Quran.

Adeyanju called on Muslims to pray for the betterment of Nigeria. He acknowledged the challenges facing the nation and emphasized the importance of collective prayers to overcome these adversities and foster a healthier society.

Furthermore, Adeyanju urges Muslims to shun bitterness and violence, advocating for unity and harmony within communities and countries.

As Vice President Global of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), Dr. Adeyanju also extends Eid greetings to stakeholders in the maritime sector, including the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Director-General of NIMASA, the Executive Secretary of the Shippers Council, and the Chairperson of STOAN, among others.
