Lekki port commissions new scanning facility to fast-track cargo examination

The management of Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL) on Wednesday commissioned its newly acquired Nuctech FS 6000 non-intrusive scanning equipment to boost service delivery at the Lekki deep seaport.

Customs Area Controller, Lagos Free Zone, Comptroller Dorothy Omogbehin performed the official commissioning of the new facility.

Omogbehin, expressed confidence that the scanning facility would significantly optimise the inspection process and increase cargo turnaround time at the port.

Speaking during the brief ceremony, Managing Director, LPLEL, Du Ruogang said the scanning equipment is the best in class for security solutions adding that its presence in the port will further fast-track the process of examination and evacuation of containers.

Ruogang pledged that Lekki Port and Lekki Freeport Terminal remain committed to shaping the future of container handling in Nigeria and beyond for greater efficiency and capacity.

He also noted that the scanning facility would improve container handling turnaround time and ensure greater national security.

Ruogang expressed appreciation to the NCS scanning team for a demonstration of the facility just as he thanked the Lagos Free Zone, Lekki Worldwide Limited, Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigeria Customs Service and all other stakeholders present at the ceremony.
