Port operations have resumed fully at APM Terminals Apapa as the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) today called off its two days strike.
The President General of the union, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, who confirmed the development said some of the issues that led to the strike have been resolved.
“They have agreed to some of the issues that led to the strike. Although they have not resolved all the areas but we cannot continue to shut the port. We have to show respect to all the agencies that have intervened. We have got something reasonable for the workers,” he told Maritime Today Online.
Recall that aggrieved dockworkers had on Wednesday embarked on strike, crippling business at the Lagos port in protest against poor salaries and retirement benefit as well as unfair treatment by the management of APM terminals.
