MASPAN, AMANO praise MWUN’s leadership commitment to drug-free maritime industry

Maritime workers union suspends strike notice against shipping companies as Shippers’ Council intervenes  

The Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria (MASPAN) and the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (AMANO) have lauded the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and its leadership led by Comrade Adewale Adeyanju for their support and commitment towards a drug- free maritime industry.

In a statement signed by MWUN Head of Media, Comrade John Ikemefuna, the commendation came following the support received from the Union during the just concluded MASPAN_AMANO 2024 Conference themed :Drugs, Human Smuggling & Trafficking: The Evolving Maritime Security Threats To Ships & Seafarers.

Adeyanju, who is also the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Vice President Global of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), was the Special Guest at the event organized by both organizations to sensitize the maritime community on the dangers of drugs, human trafficking, and smuggling.

“The Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria in conjunction with the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, with deep sense of responsibility appreciate the sterling leadership qualities of Dr. Adeyanju for his foresight and immense contributions towards a Drug – Free and Human Smuggling and Trafficking in the country’s Maritime sector, ” the statement said.

Both organizations also appreciated the goodwill message from the Deputy President-General of the Union, Comrade Francis Bunu, which boosted the morale of participants.

MASPAN and AMANO expressed their unwavering support for the MWUN President-General and committment towards the course of maritime workers union at all times.
