The President General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Prince Adewale Adeyanju has applauded the Managing Director of Ports and Terminal Multi services Ltd ( PTML), Mr. Ascanio Russo over training sponsorship of five dockworkers- members of the Union and staff of PTML under RORO TinCan Island District in Mobile Crane Operation (RTG) in Germany and Holland.
The workers have since returned to Nigeria after successfully completing their training programs abroad.
Adeyanju, who doubles as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in a statement by Head of Media ( MWUN) John Ikemefuna
commended Mr. Russo for his visionary approach to manpower development.
He described Russo as an advanced maritime industrial guru with visionary foresight aimed at repositioning PTML with global standards and fostering rapid progression in the maritime sector.
“The Maritime Workers Union is absolutely impressed and grateful to the management of PTML over this wonderful gesture and pray that this symbiotic relationship between PTML and MWUN will continue to wax stronger in all ramifications, ” Adeyanju said.
Comrade Adeyanju urged other stakeholders in the industry and terminal operators to emulate PTML’s example noting that such manpower development will improve and impact immensely on workers psyche for maximum industrial growth and productivity.
