MWUN loses unit chairman in ghastly motor accident

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has announced the death of one of its astute members, Comrade Elegbede David, who was involved in a ghastly motor accident along Oshodi-Mile 2 Express way, on May 4, 2024.

A statement by MWUN Head of Media, John Ikemefuna said until Elegbede’s demise, he was the Unit Chairman of APMT where he was highly regarded for his unwavering commitment to hard work, diligence, and sterling leadership qualities, which brought a lot of positive influence on members of the Union, and workers of APMT.

“Comrade Elegbede started work at APMT in 2007 as Crane Operatior and had been a well cultured member of the Union and a dedicated Dockworker staff of APMT, ” he said.

The President-General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, and executive members of the Union expressed sadness over the loss of Elegbede.

Adeyanju described the loss as “painful and unimaginable,” praising Comrade Elegbede as a “brilliant and intelligent Union leader.

Comrade Adeyanju prayed that Almighty God grant him eternal rest and also grant APMT management, his immediate family and colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparab’e loss.
