The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria ( MWUN) has announced the death of one of its former leaders, Comrade Chris Eromosele Idagbonre.
According to a statement issued by the Union’s Head of Media, Comrade John Ikemefuna, Idagbonre dies after a brief illness.
Comrade Idagbonre until his retirement in 2025 after a meritorious service for over 25 years was a Vice President General of the Union.
Before his retirement, Comrade Idagbonre was apragmatic trade unionist, whose career started from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Lagos, and was of the NPA Branch of the union where he had unblemished track record of service.
Reacting to the sad development, President General of the union, Comrade Francis Bunu described the late Idagbonre as a committed executive member with passion for labour matters, good heart for humanity, his colleagues, and members of the Union.
Attesting to his selfless service to the Union, Comrade Bunu said the deceased was that man one can always thinker with in terms of conflict resolution while in the Union.
Noting that his funeral arrangements will be announced by his immediate family, the Union prays that his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
