The President General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, has been elected and announced as Vice President of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Global.
Adeyanju who doubles as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) was also announced as Executive Board Member, ITF Global and Chairman, ITF Africa.
According to a statement issued by Head of Media MWUN, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Adeyanju was elected to these significant roles during the ITF Regional Conference held in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire between 5th – 7th of March, 2024.
Prior to this elevation, Comrade Adeyanju served as the Chairman of Seafarers and Dockers Sessions at ITF London and was a Member of the Fair Practices Committee (FPC).
“Prince Adeyanju’s sterling qualities of leadership and dynamic style of relationship with employers and employees in the labour sector, particularly in the maritime industry cannot be overemphasized. Little wonder, the Maritime Numero Uno leader could ascend these lofty heights in the leadership cadre of the International Transport Workers Federation.
“This press statement is now necessary to correct the previous press reports that Comrade Adeyanju has been elected and announced in the Abidjan Regional Conference as Vice President, Africa; Chairman, West Africa and Executive Board Member of International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), ” Ikemefuna said.
