The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT on Friday handed over five bags of Cannabis Sativa, weighing approximately 500kg to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Speaking during the handover ceremony held at NNS BEECROFT premises in Apapa, Commander, NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu said the illicit consignment was seized on February 18, 2026.around the Abule Osun area of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
He said the operation was carried out by BEECROFT Quick Response Team after it intercepted a van suspected of transporting illicit substances.
Commodore Adams- Aliu said the interception reflects the Nigerian Navy’s efforts to curb illegal activities within the country’s maritime domain.

He stated that his agenda is to reposition NNS BEECROFT to fulfil its mandate of securing the waterways in and around Lagos state.
He noted that every marine crime starts on land and always ends on land, and as such neighbouring countries trying to exploit our waterways for illegal activities henceforth will not be tolerated.
He reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies to secure Nigeria’s coastal corridors.
The seized narcotics were handed over to Deputy Commander of Narcotics Adejumo Gbenga Ayo for further investigation.
This development highlights inter-agency cooperation aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks and ensuring a safer maritime domain.
