Shippers’ Council pledges support for NIMAREX resuscitation

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council ( NSC) has pledged it’s full support for the resuscitation of the Nigerian Maritime. Conference & Exhibition ( NIMAREX).

The Executive Secretary/CEO of NSC, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima made the pledge when he received the NIMAREX planning committee at the Council headquarters in Lagos .

The meeting focused on areas of collaboration to resuscitate the Nigeria Maritime Conference and Exhibition to showcase Nigeria’s naritime potential, attract investors, and promote industry growth.

Dr. Akutah,while emphasizing the NSC’s commitment in driving the renewed hope agenda of the President in the maritime industry, highlighted the Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance the ease of doing business in the sector , which he said corresponds with the vision and mission of NIMAREX.

According to him, “The Nigerian Shippers’ Council as the Port Economic Regulator has a role to play in moving Nigeria to a ship-owning nation and creating an enabling environment for private sector investment to thrive.”

He also noted that the Council will partner with NIMAREX to advance it’s regulatory mandate when the Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency bill (NPERA) is signed into law.

In her response, the consultant of NIMAREX, Ms. Funmi Folorunsho said the event resuscitation is aimed at promoting partnerships for the development of Nigerian shipping lines, Identifying the potential of AFCFTA to support the country, and implementation of National Cabotage.

She also noted the committee’s plan to establish NIMAREX as an annual event .
