The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has felicitated the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola on his 70th birthday on September 29.
The union’s Head of Media, Comrade John Ikemefuna in a statement praised Oyetola’s immense contributions to the maritime sector since assuming the newly created Marine & Blue Economy ministry.
According to the President General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, Oyetola is a silent achiever with vast knowledge of the sector.
He said his innovative efforts have positively impacted employers and employees of the maritime industry.
The statement reads, “The Union will continue to identify with the Iragbiji born administrator; given his immense contributions towards the development and advancement of the Maritime sector since he assumed the newly created Marine and Blue Economy ministry.
“Dr. Adeyanju described the pioneer Minister of the Marine and Blue Economy as a silent achiever, and one whose vast knowledge in the sector cannot be underscored, having facilitated a lot of fruitful innovations that have progressively touched on the lives of both the employers and employees in the maritime industry and for the country at large.
“Prince Adeyanju who doubles as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Vice President Global, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) also said of Oyetola as one Minister, who the members of the Union will continue to remember vis a vis the Dockworkers Branch, Seafarers Branch, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Branch, and the Shipping Branch; and not forgetting his commitment towards the Union when he flew in from Abuja to Lagos to witness the signing of the Shipping Branch NJIC for workers in the shipping sector. That has truly revealed his pragmatic attitude towards work and due diligence as a Minister.
“Therefore, Oyetola’s ‘workers friendly’ attitude was demonstrated again in the sector, which has brought so much joy, peace and tranquility for both workers, employers and other stakeholders in the industry. In all, his achievements so far in the sector cannot be overemphasized
“Prince Adeyanju and his entire executives wish the pioneer Minister a pleasant ‘ Happy Birthday ‘, while praying that the Almighty God will continue to grant him good health enmeshed in longevity as he prospers in life.”
