The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu, has congratulated the union’s former President-General and Chairman of its Board of Trustees, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, on his birthday.
Adeyanju, who also serves as Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and President of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), celebrates his birthday on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
In a congratulatory message issued by the union’s Head of Media, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Bunu described Adeyanju as an experienced labour leader and administrator whose contributions had helped shape the union and the wider labour movement.
Bunu commended Adeyanju’s knowledge and experience in labour administration, saying his leadership had provided valuable guidance for the union.
He also acknowledged the administrative structures and executives Adeyanju left behind, noting that they had contributed to the smooth running of the union under his leadership.
The MWUN President-General expressed appreciation to Adeyanju for the legacy he left behind, assuring him that the current leadership would continue to build on his contributions toward a stronger and more united union.
Bunu wished Adeyanju a happy birthday and continued success in his service to the labour movement and the country.
