Micura Services Limited has been hailed as one of the leading stevedoring companies operating within Nigerian ports given it’s reputation for excellence and commitment to workers’ welfare.
Outgoing President General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria ( MWUN) Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, who gave the commendation lauded the company and it’s Managing Director, Chief Michael Ubogu for their commitment and dedication to employees who are members of the union.
Speaking during a recent interaction with journalists in Lagos, Adeyanju praised Ubogu’s dedication to his employees, pointing out his consistent support for the union and it’s members.
His words, “Micura services is one of the best stevedoring contractor we have in the port today, one that believes in the welfare of its workers.”
Adeyanju noted the long standing relationship he shares with Ubogu, spanning over 25 years and credited him as a significant part of his success story.
He also commended Ubogu’s practice of negotiating workers’ welfare directly with employers of labour and providing revolving loans to staff.
“Chief Ubogu has been supporting me for more than 25 years. He is not just a friend but a committed, kind and dedicated employer.
“He is part of our success story today. Chief Ubogu is someone who will nogtiate workers welfare behind the union with employers and he will give them what we call revolving loan.
How many of the stevedoring contractors in the port today can do what he is doing?
“If we have like ten of Micheal Ubogu in this union supporting us, no dockworker, NPA worker will suffer. He is not one of those portfolio stevedoring contractors. He connected with his workers and the union. And I see him to be a member of Maritime Workers’ Union Nigeria,” he said.
The MWUN PG explained that Ubogu’s support goes beyond financial contributions but on genuine connection with the workers and loyalty.
“It is not about giving money but about sitting down and connecting with the person you are supporting. It is about loyalty and been assertive in whatever you are doing. So I use this medium to thank Chief Ubogu. May God continue to bless him. Anywhere we are, we will continue to pray for him because he’s one of the best employer of labor we have in this country,” he said.
