The immediate past President-General of the Maritme Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju has congratulated the former President, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Prince Olayiwola Shittu who marked his75th birthday on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025.
In a statement issued by Head of Media ( MWUN), Comrade John Ikemefuna, Adeyanju described Shittu as a reformer and transformer, who carved a niche for himself in the freight forwarding industry.
Adeyanju who also serves as Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Vice President Global, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), said ANLCA under Shittu’s leadership rose to become one of the leading clearing agents association in Nigeria.
“It would be recalled that Prince Shittu started his early career with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), where he served with humility, without blemish before his exit.
“The Oyo Prince, came into ANLCA, transformed it and made the association a beauty to behold in the Nigerian Maritme space of the country.
“He is such a respected figure in the maritime industry especially in the clearing and forwarding terrain, where he carved a niche for himself, subordinates and contemporaries, bringing so much innovation, transformation and aesthetics to that branch of the maritme practice.
“It’s also noteworthy to recognize that his sterling and unique leadership during his tenure did witness the zenith of the association as one of the leading cleaning agents associations in Nigeria. Prince Shittu is not just a friend, but a brother whose idealist philosophy brought so much aesthetics into the clearing profession in the country.
“Today, I celebrate him as President-Emeritus. Shittu’s indelible achievement in ANCLA, cannot be overemphasized; and by affiliating the association with some bodies abroad won him so much accolades and that became one of his major international breakthroughs for ANCLA.
“Shittu, a committed and indefatigable worker is a philanthropist, whose humanitarian services had earned him many merit awards in the country and beyond. Shittu is not just a leader but a symbol of grace, strength, integrity and stability of purpose, which he selflessly brought into the maritme industry; a landmark that will endure his legacy with the taste of time.
“I dare say again that the “Oyo Prince” is an icon of the maritme community, he has spread his tentacles of practice globally, as such has also accorded him international recognition.
“Once again, I say congratulations to you on your glorious birthday, praying that the Almighty God will continue to grant you peace, joy and good health, ” the statement reads.
