The National Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) Amb. Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali has extended his condolence to veteran maritime journalist, Elder Asu Beks on the recent death of his wife, Mrs Helen Asu Beks.
In a letter dated 24 November, 2025, Igali, on behalf of the entire Pandef expressed shock and grief following the news of Mrs Asu Beks passing, but noted that while the forum mourns, they hold the strong belief that the Almighty knows best.
Igali eulogised the late Mrs Asu Beks as a woman of great character, good works and humility whose great virtues of selflessness and godliness endeared to her unimaginable respect from her peers.
He urged Elder Asu Beks and his entire family to take solace in her impactful life, stressing that life is not about how long one lives, but about the footprints one leaves behind.
“This is to offer you and your entire family our affectionate condolences in your hour of distress. Though words are a poor comfort at a time like this, I cannot but use these very words to express my grief and sorrow at the death of your wife whom you loved and cared for so dearly.
“Thank God, she has left great imprints in the sands of time. I encourage you, and the rest of the family to take pride that life is not about how long we lived, but that she could achieve all she did in her sojourn here on earth; which teaches us to number our days and apply our hearts to wisdom. For the bible says “to be absent from the body is to be with the Lord” (2 Cor 5:8).
“May her saul rest in peace.” the letter concluded.
