The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), in demonstration of its role as the economic regulator of the nation’s port sector, on Monday intervened in an operational dispute between SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics over the berthing of a vessel operated by AGL Logistics.

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr. Akutah Pius, said the intervention underscored the Council’s commitment to ensuring seamless port operations, promoting trade facilitation, and sustaining industrial harmony within the maritime industry.

He stressed the importance of efficient utilization of terminal facilities and the need for continuous collaboration among stakeholders to protect Nigeria’s maritime reputation and improve operational efficiency at the ports.

According to him, the Council remains committed to providing timely regulatory interventions aimed at preventing operational disruptions capable of affecting port activities and cargo movement.

The meeting ended with both parties reaching a mutual understanding on cargo evacuation procedures and improved operational coordination.

Management of SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics commended the Council for its prompt intervention and effective regulatory oversight in resolving the matter amicably.
