The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria ( MWUN) has expressed sadness over the passing of the Chairman, Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC) Otunba Kunle Folarin, who died in Lagos on Tuesday, aged 82.
The union in a statement described the late Folarin as a cherished and highly respected supporter of the union.
The leadership of MWUN said his death represent an enormous loss to the maritime sector and the union.
“We want to recognise his many interventions which ushered in good work regimes for the dockworkers and other port users.
“Until his death he represented a walking repository of maritime knowledge and filled us with zeal and zest.
“We join his family, friends and well meaning Nigerians to celebrate a life well lived in service of humanity,” the statement said.
