Maersk has signed and taken delivery of the world’s first container vessel operating on green methanol.
The Danish carrier said on social media that the new HMD Hull, which was built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, will soon be deployed on its services.

The vessel is now preparing to embark on its maiden voyage towards Maersk’s headquarters city, Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
“The introduction of this container vessel is a significant step towards realizing our commitment to becoming carbon neutral, and it marks the beginning of a new era in shipping, where we together can minimize greenhouse gas emissions and create a greener future,” said Maersk in a LinkedIn post.
