MWUN congratulates new ANLCA executives, pledges partnership

The leadership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has congratulated the newly elected executives of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANCLA ) whose election took place recently in Lagos.

A statement by the Head of Media, MWUN, Com. John Ikemefuna said President General of the union, Comrade Adewale Adeniyi received the new executives led by it’s Vice President, Prince Segun Oduntan during a courtesy visit to the MWUN secretariat in Lagos on Wednesday.

Comrade Adeyanju, who is also the Deputy President of Nigeria Labour Congress received his guests with accolades, noting that the ANCLA elections have been initially marred with so many back and forth with issues bordering on factional divisions amongst others, but all that have become history with the Association new executives in place.

“This is to say that the recent elections have brought about what we now have and see today as new ANCLA leaders.

“In this vein, I want to commend both the past and the present executives for this latest uninterrupted election and pray this administration will usher in the much awaited peace to reign supreme in ANCLA.

“We as members of the Maritime Workers Union are happy with you and hope to keep our doors open for mutual cooperation and for a possible collaboration which will strengthen both organisations to positively impact our nation’s economy in the maritime industry,” he said.

Prince Adeyanju who was full of praise for both losers and winners of the just concluded ANCLA elections tasks the new leadership of the association to carry everyone along in the scheme of things, nothing that if there was no loser, no winner could have emerged.

According to him, all hands must be on deck for a better administration of the Association.

Adeyanju also admonished the new leadership to work in one direction of purpose just as he also promised the ANCLA leaders that he is poised to reciprocate the visit in earnest.

In his remarks, the Vice President of ANLCA, Segun Oduntan assured that newly elected leadership will synergise with the Union to achieve one common goal of growing the country’s economy through all the seaports.

The leadership of ANCLA also described Comrade Adeyanju as a man of peace, whose leadership acumen in the sector cannot be over-emphasised; hence, the visit to the Union.
