Chinese seafarers’ basic salary is to up 7% starting from the beginning of next year comparing with the standards in 2021.
China Shipowner’s Association and China National Committee of the Chinese Seaman & Construction Workers’ Union have agreed to sign the 2022 version of Chinese Seaman Collective Agreement, which will be effective starting from 1 January 2022.
The agreement includes a document for improving employment benefits for seafarers during the Covid-19 pandemic. These cover a 7% increase of base salary for Chinese seafarers starting from next year, and provide a guideline for the guaranteed salary, vacation and onboard living and working conditions of crew.
China Shipowner’s Association and China National Committee of the Chinese Seaman & Construction Workers’ Union established collective negotiation working mechanism in 2009, playing a key role in promoting healthy and stable development of shipping industry and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests for seaman.
