Jime lauds NSC cooperative for transparency

L-R: President, NSC Staff Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, Bahir Ambi, presenting the award from the Lagos State Government to the Executive Secretary, NSC, Emmanuel Jime, at the Council’s headquarters in Lagos on Monday.

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Emmanuel Jime, has commended the Council’s staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society for its transparency in handling members’ funds.

Jime gave the commendation in Lagos on Monday when he received the President of the Cooperative, Mr. Bashir Ambi, who led members of his executives to visit and briefed the Chief Executive on the achievements of the Cooperative since 2017 when they came on board.

The President thanked the Chief Executive for the privilege despite his tight schedule and assured of the Cooperative unreserved loyalty to the Management, saying, “we will not abuse the financial trust bestowed on us by members of the Cooperative.”

Ambi informed the Shippers’ Council boss that the Cooperative is financially stable as members can log in, apply and loan will be approved to only those who are eligible within 24hours.

He said the visit was to familiarize themselves with the ES/CEO and to request for a harmonious working relationship with the management.

“I am glad to inform the NSC management under your leadership that the NSC Cooperative was a recipient of a prestigious award by the Lagos State Government.

“Sir, we have over 2 million Cooperative Societies in Lagos State and for the State to recognize our Cooperative, it is a great honor not only to the members but to the Shippers’ Council. This is because this is the first time since 1987, such type of honor is extended to the Council, which is a welcomed development.

“I believe we cannot achieve this without the support from the Council, therefore we want the continuation of the guidance and assistance. We promise not to fail the investors and the Council,” he said.

Responding, Jime appreciated and congratulated the President and his executives for the award saying, “this is an attestation of the quality of services you have been rendering to your members, which I will join.”

The NSC boss added that “staff welfare is central to the management and we want to work in partnership with the Cooperative, so that we can bring succor to members of staff. I promise to offer you my partnership.”
