The Nigerian Navy has announced the passing of its Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Musa Bello Katagum, following a protracted illness.
Acting Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho who confirmed the development in a statement said the late Rear Admiral made invaluable contributions that were instrumental to the Navy’s operational successes in recent times.
He described him as a dedicated and highly respected senior officer whose career was marked by exceptional professionalism, commitment to duty and invaluable contributions to naval operations and national security.
“The Chief of the Naval Staff, officers, ratings and civilian staff of the Nigerian Navy mourn this profound loss.
“Throughout his distinguished service in the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Katagum demonstrated exemplary leadership, strategic insight, and unwavering loyalty to the ideals and mission of the Nigerian Navy. His legacy will remain a source of inspiration to all personnel across the Services.
“The Nigerian Navy extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and associates during this difficult time. Rear Admiral Katagum passed away following a protracted illness and has since been buried according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace, ” he said.
