The Onne Port Complex of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has once again demonstrated it’s capacity and readiness for large ship call with the successful berthing of a container vessel, KOTA CEMPAKA on Saturday April 27, 2024.
The vessel, with a Length Over All (LOA) of 300 meters and an International Maritime Organization (IMO) number of 9638965, sailed under the flag of Singapore and carried 566 laden containers.
Responding to the development, Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Mohammed Bello KoKo said the successful berthing of the vessel is a testament that the Eastern Ports, including Onne, are fully equipped and prepared to handle large vessel traffic.
“This is a confirmation of the capacity and readiness of Eastern Ports for vessel traffic. This also shows that our investments in channel navigability and security are yielding results. We will sustain our advocacy for the patronage of the Eastern Ports,” he said.
The arrival of the KOTA CEMPEKA follows the recent successful berthing of Maersk Stadelhorn and MV Lady Jane vessels, which also measured 300 meters and 295 meters in LOA, respectively.
This development shows Onne Port is poised to sustain its growing fortunes.
