The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has cancelled the fake certificate of registration of the Dr. Taiwo Afolabi led Board of Trustees (BoT) faction of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA).
The fake certificate issued in September 7, 2022 has been marked X as displayed on the CAC website, a development that has further validated the Alh.Taiwo Mustapha led BoT as the authentic and recognized advisory body of the association.
Recall that the former acting National President of the association, Kayode Farinto had displayed the purported CAC certificate in a photograph with Dr Taiwo Afolabi and a member of the factional board, Ozor Chukwura.

Reacting to the development in a chat with Maritime Today Online, Secretary of the ANLCA Registered BoT, Prince Taiye Oyeniyi, lauded the CAC’s decision, saying that it has proved that there was a limit to the extent to which falsehood and propaganda could be used to suppress the truth.
He said with the cancellation of the fake certificate registration, the Taiwo Mustapha led Board would meet and take a decision on the composition of the board and thereafter commence the process for election into the National Executive Committee (NECOM) of the association.
He said, “This is victory for ANLCA members because if lies travel one million miles, truth will someday overtake it and truth has come out now. We have been expecting this to happen two weeks ago but they said Corporate Affairs has not concluded their investigation. It was after they concluded the investigation that they came out with the decision and this decision is binding.
“So, we will go back to the AIG Maritime Police, present our facts and reopen the secretariat and the interim NECOM will take over so that we can start putting election processes in place but that will be after the Chairman (Taiwo Mustapha) arrives.
“As soon as the Chairman is back, the board will meet and take a decision because we are not going to have a vacuum. We have a maximum of six months for our interim and election has to be conducted within that period according to the ANLCA constitution. So, we have a lot of things to do from our end.”
Speaking on the court judgement obtained by the Tony Iju led expired NECOM to deceive the CAC to register another board, Oyeniyi said, “The judgement they got in Abeokuta was a fraudulent one. They were the plaintiff and the defendant. Have you ever seen where a defendant goes to court and say the judge should give judgement against him?
“On our part, we have no problem. We have been saying it since 2018 when the court removed them officially and they said the interim order of the court is 14 days but they have forgotten that the judge said until the determination of the suit nobody should touch the board. The court asked us to go to CAC and certify our certificate and we did it. So, with this declaration by the CAC, none of them can do anything again.”
