The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has extended felicitation to Christians in Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate this year’s Easter.
In a press statement signed by Head of Media for MWUN, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, the union’s President-General, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, urged Christians to follow the example of Jesus Christ.
Adeyanju praised Jesus’s message of love, righteousness, and forgiveness.
The MWUN leader also used the occasion to call for peace and unity.
He urged Christians to reject violence and hatred, and to embrace love and forgiveness “with genuine forgiveness from the heart.”
Adeyanju noted that following Jesus’s teachings will create a better world for everyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political beliefs.
He called Christians to reflect on Jesus’s sacrifice and recommit themselves to living according to his teachings.
“If we can use this season to reflect on our Lord’s death and resurrection to reposition our thoughts towards one another on how to love and forgive one another unconditionally and commiting ourselves towards doing good everywhere we find ourselves, then, we have learned from the purpose of this season we are celebrating.
“As Christians, we must learn to persevere, and to purge our hearts of all immorality, and to be of true spirit always while enduring all situations according to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, ” he said.
