She expressed commitment to manpower development of the maritime sector, stating that the industry has huge potentials to create jobs for teeming unemployed youths in the country.
She stated further that if the maritime sector is well harnessed, it can help address the economic challenges facing Nigeria and fund the nation’s budget.
She said, “I appreciate the organisers for the award. That is to say we are fulfilling our mandate in the industry. It is also to tell us we have people who are watching us, monitoring our activities.
“This award will spur us to do more. We will ensure we hold on to the mandate of training and providing adequate and qualified capacity for the industry.
“The maritime sector has lots of potentials and opportunities. If adequately harnessed, it can end the nation’s economic woes.”
An elated Macfoy, also attributed the success of the group to the steadfastness, support and hard work of her staff.
She said, “I am very excited and overwhelmed over the three awards from OMIS. (Outstanding mentor of Women, Outstanding Maritime School and Best Manning Agent in the country). The three awards came to me as a surprise because the letter of invitation I received from OMIS didn’t state so.
“I am grateful to OMIS for this recognition. I am also very appreciative to my husband who has been my pillar of support, though not in this industry but always supportive of my job and all it takes to grow in the industry.
“Ocean Deep Staff are not left out in this appreciation, they are so hard working, working round the clock because shipping is 24-hour business. We will continue to do our best for the industry.”
